Day-by-day Itinerary:

Day 1 – Arrive in ‘Tana’
Fly into Antananarivo’s Ivato International Airport (TNR). Antananarivo, aka Tana by its French colonial name, is the capital and largest city in Madagascar. After clearing customs and immigration, you will be privately transferred to your hotel. On arrival, meet your Malagasy leader, Kenny Carlino, and check in to the Hotel Colbert.

Day 2 – Tana
After breakfast this morning, you will be collected for your Full Day city Tour of Tana featuring the cultural, historical and natural highlights of Antananarivo, tour includes lunch. In the afternoon, return to your hotel to freshen up before your Welcome Dinner and your second overnight at the Hotel Colbert.

Day 3 – Antsirabe
After breakfast, check out of the Hotel Colbert with your leader and drive a few hours south to Antsirabe. On the way, visit the market and a traditional blacksmith at the village of Ambatolampy. Enjoy lunch in Antsirabe followed by exploring the city. Visit a few handicraft workshops before dinner and overnight at Le Royal Palace.

Day 4 – Ranomafana
Breakfast and check out at the hotel is followed by a drive to Ambositra to visit local wood carvers and have lunch. Afterwards, drive to Ranomafana National Park to check in and have dinner at the SETAM Lodge. Enjoy a nocturnal walk in the park before overnighting at the hotel.

Day 5 – Ranomafana National Park
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a morning visit to the Talatakely region of Ranomafana National Park. Return to the hotel for lunch before an afternoon visit to the Vohiparara region of Ranomafana National Park. Return to the SETAM Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 – Wednesday, October 23, 2019 – Anja Park / Isalo
Breakfast at the hotel, then drive to Ambalavao to visit a traditional weaving workshop and paper factory. Continue on to Anja Park for a short visit before lunch at a local restaurant. Drive to Ranohira for dinner and overnight at Le Relais de la Reine.

Day 7 & 8 – Isalo National Park
Breakfasts are followed by drives and hikes in Isalo National Park. Start with a morning drive to the entrance of Namaza Canyon and hike up to the Cascade des Nymphes. Return to the hotel for lunch before an afternoon visit of the park’s museum. Move on to the “Window of Isalo” for picturesque views of the sun setting. Day two brings scenic walks through the Piscine Naturelle in search of the endemic wildlife. In the evenings, return to Le Relais de la Reine for dinner and overnight.

Day 9 – Toliara
Have an early breakfast at the hotel and drive to Toliara (Tuléar). Enjoy lunch enroute at Zombitsy Lodge. Arrive at Toliara and check into the Auberge la Table for dinner and overnight.

Day 10 – Fly to Tana
Breakfast is followed by a visit to the Antsokay Arboretum and transfer to the Toliara Airport to check in for your flight to Antananarivo. After collecting your bags at the Tana airport, transfer to the Hotel Colbert for a relaxing dinner and overnight before your morning journey to Andasibe.

Day 11 – Andasibe
After breakfast at the Hotel Colbert, check out and transfer, with your guide, to Andasibe with lunch en route at a local restaurant. Check in at the Andasibe Lodge, Andasibe Lemurs Lodge or Mantadia Lodge. Venture out on a guided walk before dinner and overnight.

Day 12 – Mantadia National Park
After breakfast at your hotel, visit Andasibe-Mantadia National Park in search of the Indri, other lemurs and other endemic flora & fauna. Return to your hotel for lunch before a visit to Lemur Island. Return to your hotel for dinner & overnight.

Day 13 – Perinet Reserve
Breakfast is followed by a visit to the renowned Perinet Reserve to continue your exploration of this virtually-untouched primary rainforest. Return to your hotel for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, return to your Andasibe Lodge for your Farewell Dinner and overnight on a Full Board basis.

Day 14 – Tana / Depart for home
After breakfast, your guide will collect you for the transfer back to Tana. Lunch en route at the Mandraka Nature Farm. On arrival in Tana, check into your day room at the Relais Des Plateaux to freshen up and relax before your transfer to Tana airport for your evening flight home.

After receiving his bachelor’s degree in socio-linguistics, in his home country of Madagascar, Kenny has been working as a tour guide for 18 years, introducing the wonders of Madagascar’s rich cultural fabric as well as it’s natural treasures to his clients. Kenny is a fully certified, French and English-speaking guide with an encyclopedic knowledge of the endemic flora and fauna across the vast bio-diverse landscapes of Madagascar. Kenny is organized, punctual, professional and has strong integrity. Kenny consistently receives excellent reviews from his guests including our Africa Easy guests who have traveled with Kenny. It would be a challenge to find a more competent guide on the island of Madagascar.
