BEST OF SOUTH AFRICA, NAMIBIA,
& BOTSWANA SAFARI
August / September 2025
Day-by-day Itinerary:
Day 1 | Arrive in Cape Town, South Africa
Welcome to South Africa! On arrival in Cape Town, you will be met at the door of your aircraft with your name on a paging board.
Check in to the Victoria & Alfred hotel for 2 nights.
Cape Town
Scenically beautiful, Cape Town is a compelling mix of trendy modern and old-world elegance. Glamorous hotels, world-class dining and stunning vistas merge seamlessly with dynamic student suburbs and vibrant nightlife. Malay and African heritage is evident in the cuisine, traditions and entertainment while the architecture reveals a strong Dutch, German and English flavour and style. Contemporary art is proudly displayed in a variety of galleries and modern boutique hotels, and wine bars and brandy tasting lounges will appeal to the fashionable set. For the well-heeled the finest in opera, ballet, drama and music can be appreciated in style.A short boat cruise to Robben Island, just over seven km’s from Cape Town harbour, you can experience a sense of hopelessness inside the prison cell where South Africa’s most beloved legend, Nelson Mandela spent 27 years hard labour. It is difficult to imagine how anyone could rise above the horror of incarceration to become arguably the most iconic and compassionate leader of our era.An exciting trip up Table Mountain in a cable car provides panoramic views over the “Mother City” and other attractions include the Cultural History Museum, the Castle of Good Hope and the world-renowned Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Greenmarket Square’s local crafts markets and the Bo-Kaap’s colourful Cape Malay buildings add a sense of authenticity to your trip, and Long Street’s vibrant restaurants, bars and clubs come alive after dark. Perhaps wander around the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, a working harbour and hub of entertainment and shopping opportunities.
Day 2 | Private Full Day Tour Cape Point & Peninsula
A full day of stunning scenery awaits, as you embark on an exploration of the Cape Peninsula. Drive to the lower cable car station on Table Mountain and then take the cable car (weather permitting) to the top of Table Mountain 1088 meters, enjoy spectacular views and explore the walkways. You will see the trendy beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay, before crossing over to the quaint fishing village of Hout Bay.
Continuing along Chapman’s Peak, one of the world’s most breath-taking coastal drives, make your way to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Board the funicular for a trip to the top of the Peninsula for incredible panoramic outlooks over the perceived meeting point of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans.
Next up, the naval base of Simon’s Town is a richly historic destination of museums, and home to Boulders Beach, renowned for its African Penguin breeding colony. Take some time to wander along the boardwalks, marveling at the antics of these amusing creatures. Our final stop is Kirstenbosch Gardens, then return to your hotel.
Day 3 | Shark Cage Diving in Gansbaai / Hermanus
After breakfast depart for Hermanus. On arrival at the shark driving House, intro/briefing, followed by boat trip to the shark dive area and after the dive, return to the Great White House for a light snack, debriefing an then transfer to Hermanus Boutique Guest House for overnight in Hermanus for 1 night on Bed and Breakfast basis.
The Shark Boat Trip
Going Great White Shark Diving in South Africa and more specifically a trip on the Slashfin, is a combination of goosebump thrills, education and relaxation on a luxury boat in the company of experienced experts and researchers! They will show you how to distinguish between a male and female shark and how to identify a specific shark by its unique dorsal fin and scars. The 20 – 25 minute boat trip to where the activity is to take place, is by itself an exhilarating adventure.
Named after a legendary 3,3 m male shark with a very distinctive dorsal fin, the Slashfin is a unique, multi-million rand aluminum boat custom designed for speed, stability, safety and space and can comfortably accommodate 40 passengers and the crew at a time.
On any given day, you can also usually see at least two or more members of the Marine Big Five – sharks, dolphins, whales, seals and penguins, as well as several bird species.
Day 4 | Travel Back to Cape Town
If you are not able to do the Shark Dive on 20 August, you have a 2nd chance to do the Dive today. You will be staying in the center of the town of Hermanus, about 40 mins from the shark dive departure point.
Hermanus being a lovely community to walk around and to explore on your own while staying at Hermanus Boutique Hotel.
Late afternoon, you will be transferred from Gansbaai or from Hermanus back to the Victoria & Alfred Hotel for a 1 night stay on a B&B basis.
Day 5 | Travel to Inyati Private Game Reserve
Transfer from the V&A Hotel, Waterfront, Cape Town to the Cape Town Airport and fly (we will book this flight) Fly from Cape Town to Skukuza Airport (costed separately in rates section below). On arrival, you will be met by a representative from Inyati Private Game Reserve and transferred to the Camp in Sabi Sand for a 3 night fully inclusive stay.
Greater Kruger National Park
As you bump along the park roads, the sun warm upon your face and air dry in the back of your throat, your senses are on high alert. This is the real Africa, cut away from the hectic pace of life, home to Africa’s Big 5.
The Kruger is alive, from the nervously twitching herd of impala after a night of predator action, to the wild dog cavorting like domestic pets alongside the road.
Marvel as a herd of elephant simply appear from out the bush, then silently vanish back into the landscape. With over 2 million hectares of pristine wilderness, the Kruger’s biodiversity sustains numerous species of game and birds.
The dry north consists of Baobab trees, scrubland and rocky outcroppings which can be seen for miles and animals tend to gather around water sources. As you come south, the park gets busier, animal numbers increase and the backdrop changes to grassland and acacia woodlands. On the western borders, private reserves such as Sabi Sands and the Timbavati open onto the Kruger, offering an exclusive game experience with the flexibility of night drives and off-road 4 x 4 safaris.
Swaying to the movement of an open vehicle while wrapped warmly against the night chills, is an unforgettable experience. The call of a Nightjar darting overhead and the flash of eyes reflected from the bushes brings an entirely different twist to your safari and as you drop your head back and look up – the crisp night skies go on forever.
Day 6 & 7 | Greater Kruger National Park
Enjoy two exciting days on safari in the Greater Kruger National Park & Southern Sabi Sands, where you’ll embark on two daily game drives. Experience the thrill of getting up close and personal with Africa’s wildlife, with opportunities for bush walks that allow for a deeper connection to the stunning landscapes and ecosystems. This immersive experience brings you face-to-face with the majestic Big 5 and other incredible species in their natural habitat, ensuring unforgettable memories in the heart of the wild.
On Safari: Southern Sabi Sands
The Sabi Sands is a private 65,000-hectare reserve known as one of the few places that you can see the Big 5 in one day. It has a diverse habitat with the Sand and Sabi Rivers running through it, a huge range of wildlife and a reputation for big cat sightings.
Head out for an early morning game drive in open vehicles, stopping for a refreshing coffee break and a chance to listen to the sounds of the bush whilst admiring the landscape.
After some down-time and a siesta back at camp, set off again in the late afternoon when the bush comes alive. Sundowners as night falls, then spotlights come out in search of a new range of creatures. For those needing to expend some energy, a guided walking safari is an ideal way to learn about smaller animals and plants.
Day 8 | Travel Skukuza to Johannesburg
Fly on scheduled flight that we will book (costed separately) from Skukuza Airport to Johannesburg and walk to your City Lodge JNB (OR Tambo) Airport Hotel.
Johannesburg
South Africa’s economic hub, the New York of Africa, bursts at the seams with a wealth of art, history and culture. Johannesburg is a fusion of chic sophistication and rustic, inner-city vibe born of Africa’s finest creative minds. Modern African art meets designer trend and the results are striking. From the inner city walking tours’ street art and graffiti, to the re-invented university suburbs, the rejuvenation exposes a vibrant urban life. Braamfontein’s Constitution Hill, art galleries and restaurants are an example of this regeneration. It is here the continent can express itself and the results are funky, a little off beat and totally captivating.
Day 9 | Travel Johannesburg to Sossusvlei
Early morning, Walk from your City Lodge Hotel to the Johannesburg International Apt for 2hr pre check in for flight to Windhoek (scheduled flight – costed separately). On arrival Windhoek, clear customs and Immigration on arrival in Namibia and fly to Sossusvlei.

You will be met on arrival at the airstrip and transferred to Kwessi Dunes Camp. Check in and enjoy two Overnights in a Luxury room at Kwessi Dunes on a fully inclusive basis.
Day 10 | Sossusvlei, Namibia
Enjoy Namibrand today from Kwessi Dunes / Full day in the Sossusvlei area enjoy nature drives and walks.
NamibRand Nature Reserve
At more than 200,000 hectares in size, the NamibRand Nature Reserve is one of the largest private reserves in southern Africa. It was established in the 1980s when Albi Bruckner integrated several livestock farms into a protected wilderness area and today it’s a model of conservation success. There are strict rules about the number of lodges built in the area (and even stricter rules about the number of rooms each one may have), making it a totally private and entirely exclusive adventure.
Photographs may show the craggy, mauve mountains of the NamibRand, the infamous red dunes and the enormous swathes of desert, but nothing prepares for you the moment you see it for yourself. The space is humbling, the sense of peace is spiritual and it’s one of the most striking, stirring places out there. The fairy circles that dot the ground are particularly intriguing. Over the years, the theories behind them have been hotly debated (they are a result of poisonous fungi, termites, or even meteor showers), however no one really knows for certain why they are here. Just another reason to visit this extraordinary place.
Day 11 | Travel Sossusvlei to Swakopmund
Travel today from Kwessi Dunes to the Airstrip and fly out of Sossusvlei to Swakopmund and to the Hansa Hotel.
Fly ETD approx. 11h20 from Keerweder, Sossusvlei to Skakopmund. ETA approx. 12h10 at Swakopmund.
On arrival in Swakopmund, you will be met at the Airport and by road a Transfer to Hansa Hotel for check in on a bed and breakfast basis.
Enjoy an afternoon walk around the quant town of Swakopmund. Enjoy dinner at 1 of the many restaurants located in Swakopmund.
Day 12 & 13 | Swakopmund / Walvis Bay
After breakfast, private tour from Swakpomund to Walvis for an early Morning Seal & Dolphin Cruise excursion in Walvis Bay ( including return transfers) Return for lunch on own and then. Afternoon at leisure.
The following day enjoy a 4×4 Sandwich Harbor 4×4 drive along the Dunes and along the Ocean. Return late afternoon to Hansa Hotel, Swakopmund and enjoy a seafood dinner on own at a nearby restaurant.
Sandwich Harbour
Part of the Namib Naukluft Park, is a place many have heard of but very few have ever visited. The lagoon, salt pans and the bird sanctuary, which form the Walvis Bay Wetlands, are rightly heralded as the single most important coastal wetlands of Southern Africa. It is one of five Ramsar sites in Namibia. Giant sand dunes run straight into the ocean, creating breathtaking sceneries and unique landscapes, just waiting to be discovered!
Sandwich Harbour, a little less than 60km south of Walvis Bay in the Namib-Naukluft National Park, is one of Namibia’s most unique and dramatic sites. Here some of the world’s highest dunes descent into the cold Atlantic Ocean to form a picturesque lagoon.
Once a commercial fishing and trading port, Sandwich Harbour is now a RAMSAR site (Site no. 743) with magnificent wetland wilderness and devoid of any human settlement. Wedged between the sea and the Namib Dunes, this is one of Namibia’s most important coastal wetlands, and is home to eight endangered species among the large numbers of wading birds.
Day 14 | Fly Along Skeleton Coast to Moew Bay
After breakfast, transfer to the small local airport for a scenic flight over Cape Cross, along the Skeleton coast to Mowe Bay, Approx. 1 hr 40 mins. At Mowe Bay, leave the aircraft and continue the rest of the trip by road in a 4×4 transfer vehicle along the Skeleton Coast to Shipwreck Lodge located in a special conservancy area. Check in for a 2 night say on a fully inclusive basis.
Skeleton Coast
The words ‘eerie’ and ‘mysterious’ are often bandied around when it comes to describing Africa’s most interesting locations, but the Skeleton Coast has to be one place that truly deserves the metaphors.
Shrouded in mist, the jaw-droppingly beautiful National Park begins at the Hoarusib River and runs roughly 500 kilometres up the Atlantic Coast to the Kunene River. Described by the San Bushmen as ‘the Land God Made in Anger’, the beaches are strewn with bleached whale bones and the wrecks of over a thousand ships, and the interior is an uninhabited desert of rolling, endless sand. But it’s magical and hauntingly picturesque, and, in our books, that makes it an absolute must-see.
Shipwreck Lodge itself is located in an unrivalled spot in the Skeleton Coast Central Concession Area, a piece of land between the Hoarusib and Hoanib rivers. The lodge is within the Skeleton Coast Natoonal Park and roughly 45 kilometres from Mowe Bay. The area contains irreplaceable and vulnerable wildlife habitat for species of the highest conservation importance, including elephant and the elusive brown hyena.
Day 15 | Nature Drive Along Hoaruseb River
Today do a nature drive up the Hoaruseb River, and along the Skelton Coast, enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the locations your Pilot guide will assist with along with your daily outings. There is also the option to do guided walks and maybe even a Quadbike excursion. All activities are included and meals at Shipwreck Lodge.
Day 16 | Travel to Etosha National Park
After breakfast at Shipwreck Lodge, return by 4×4 on a scenic drive back to your Aircraft and the Pilot will then fly you direct to Onguma. Approx. 1 hr 45 mins.
Transfer to ONGUMA CAMP KALA Lodge for a 3 night stay on a fully inclusive basis. On arrival, enjoy a late lunch on arrival at Reserve and late afternoon activity.
Day 17 & 18 | Onguma Camp Kala, Etosha National Park
2 more days in region of Etosha East/ Overnights at Onguma Camp Kala On Safari from Onguma Camp Kala going out daily on shared game drives into Etosha National Park and on the Onguma Reserve.
Etosha National Park
Etosha owes its unique landscape to the Etosha Pan, a vast shallow depression of approximately 5 000
square km. A series of waterholes along the Southern edge of the pan guarantee the rewarding spectacular game viewing. In good rain years the pan fills with water draining southwards from Angola via the delta like system of shallow rivers, drying out in the winter to become an austere expanse of white cracked mud, shimmering with mirages and upward spiraling dust devils.
Of the mammal species found in the park, several are rare and endangered, such as black rhino and black-faced impala. Etosha’s elephants are reputed to be the largest in Africa, the tallest ones measuring up to 4m at the shoulder. Their tusks, on the other hand, are relatively small. For the greater part of the year the Etosha Pan is a bleak expanse of white cracked mud which shimmers with mirages on most days. Seeing vast herds of game against this eerie backdrop makes the Etosha game-viewing experience unique.
Day 19 | Travel Etosha to Johannesburg
After breakfast, you will be flow from Etosha airstrip to Windhoek Int. Airport and then late in the day a flight from Windhoek to Johannesburg. Evening departure flight from Windhoek to Johannesburg. On arrival in Johannesburg, clear customs and immigration and walk to City Lodge at OR Tambo Airport for overnight on B&B basis.
Day 20 | Fly from Johannesburg to Okavango Delta
After breakfast, Walk to the OR Tambo International Airport from the City Lodge Airport Hotel and check in 2.5 hours prior for the flight from JNB to Maun, Botswana.
Fly mid-morning from Johannesburg to Maun, Botswana. We will book this regional Botswana flight JNB to MUB.
Clear Botswana Immigration & Customs on arrival and proceed to your next flight being a lodge hopper flight from Maun to Camp Okavango. Check in for a 3nt stay on a fully inclusive basis at Camp Okavango. Enjoy a late afternoon activity and then dinner and overnight.
Okavango Delta
As old as time, the seasonal flood from the Angola Highlands is the heartbeat of Botswana. Seeping along the panhandle and into the largest inland delta system in the world, the water creates a uniquely beautiful National Heritage Site, the incoming tide of life bringing with it birth, transformation and replenishment.
These ancient, cyclical changes provide an exceptional safari experience and the area supports vast herds of elephant, buffalo and hippo, as well as numerous antelope, giraffe, zebra and the ever present predators.
From March the waters spread outwards, reaching the inner delta by June and peaking in July and August. The inbound flow creates a buzz of energy as it spans out towards Maun, the country as a whole conscious of the gift the waters bring, and caught up in the primordial movement.
Depending on nature’s temperamental dictates, the flood levels vary each year, never under the control of man. This makes it difficult to assess what will happen in the upcoming season: the Delta may swell up to 3 times its size.
Under natural forces, the face of the earth renews itself, the landscape of channels, grasslands, reed islands and lagoons burst with life and vitality. As the levels recede in October, the earth starts to dry altering the scenery and game viewing. The summer months bring life from a new angle, and the November/December rains come, announcing the green season, and a land lush and verdant. Whether flood or rain, water, the very essence of life, plays a vital role in the Okavango Delta.
Day 21 | Okavango Delta, Botswana
Enjoy two daily safaris in the Okavango Delta.
On Safari: Okavango Delta
A vast area of swamps, occasional flooded areas and dry land, the Okavango Delta is one of the largest, most intricate and unpredictable wetlands in the world. Safari experiences depend on the season and presence of water, and may include game drives, mokoro, boat excursions or guided walks. Set off on an early morning activity as the sun starts to rise and animals are at their most active. A refreshing coffee stop warms you up and provides the chance to listen to the sounds of the wild. Spend some time resting back at camp during midday, then set off again in the afternoon. Late afternoons extend into evening activities, and spotlights come out to help find the fascinating nocturnal species hiding in the darkness.
Day 22 | Air Transfer Camp Okavango to Camp Moremi
After breakfast and morning activity, depart Camp Okavango for short flight and then a short road transfer to Camp Moremi for a 3 night fully inclusive stay. 1 x Super Tent
Moremi & Surrounds
Moremi Game Reserve, situated in the central and eastern areas of the Okavango Delta, boasts one of the richest and most diverse ecosystems on the African continent. Moremi covers nearly a third of the Okavango, the largest inland delta in the world and exceptionally picturesque, its landscapes unforgettable and filled with abundant life. Verdant floodplains, (seasonal or perennially wet), waterways and lagoons cut through lush vegetation. Palm trees reach up from islands, parting the mists of early mornings.
Open plains team with game and riverine and mopane forests cast cool shade over the heated earth. Gloriously contrasting, these varied habitats provide sanctuary to the prolific year-round wildlife population and over 450 species of birds. Rare sitatunga and lechwe antelope thrive in the papyrus banks of the ancient waterways whilst large herds of impala and tsessebe graze on dry land.
As summer comes to an end and the dry winter months take over, the scenery changes. Now the constantly moving herds of buffalo dominate the land, and as they migrate along primordial paths, the hypnotic sway of large elephants brings the reserve into its own, renewing it with a sense of purpose. Kudu, zebra and giraffe lead the ever attendant predators into the fray, and life bursts forth, abundant and complete.
Day 23 & 24 | Moremi 7 Surrounds
Enjoy two daily safaris along with additional activities exploring the Xakanaxa Lagoon and its surrounding channels by boat. Witness the prolific birdlife, including the majestic Fish Eagle and the vibrant Malachite Kingfisher, both of which are frequently spotted. You may even catch a glimpse of the rare Pel’s Fishing Owl, much to the delight of guides and guests alike.
On Safari: Moremi Game Reserve & Surrounds
A varied landscape of floodplains, waterways and lagoons, open plains and forests, Moremi is an animal satuary with prolific animals and birdlife. Depending on the season, herds of elephant, red lechwe and sitatunga antelope may be seen. The ideal time to head out on safari is early in the morning, as the sun starts to rise, and animals are most active. Warm up with a quick coffee break and take in the incredible sounds of the bush and birdsong in this birders’ paradise. Retreat to camp for a midday siesta and in the late afternoon, set out again when the bush comes alive. If the option is available, boating excursions offer a new vantage point to appreciate the landscape from a different perspective.
Day 25 | Depart Home
After morning game drive at Camp Moremi, brunch, check out and fly on (included) Lodge Hopper flight to Maun. Then scheduled Air from Maun to Johannesburg, which we will book for the 2 of you. Clear Customs and Immigration and Check in for an evening flight (after 7pm) from Johannesburg home to USA. We hope you’ve had a wonderful and unforgettable stay in Southern Africa!
*Please note: This itinerary is subject to change. In the spirit of expedition travel, plans may change slightly to take full advantage of encounters with the destination and its people, culture, and wildlife.
