Day 3 & 4 | On Safari in the Southern Sabi Sands

Southern Sabi Sands
The Sabi Sands is a private 65,000-hectare reserve in the Greater Kruger National Park, known as one of the few places that you can see the Big 5 in one day. It has a diverse habitat with the Sand and Sabi Rivers running through it, a huge range of wildlife and a reputation for big cat sightings. Head out for an early morning game drive in open vehicles, stopping for a refreshing coffee break and a chance to listen to the sounds of the bush whilst admiring the landscape. After some down-time and a siesta back at camp, set off again in the late afternoon when the bush comes alive. Sundowners as night falls, then spotlights come out in search of a new range of creatures. For those needing to expend some energy, a guided walking safari is an ideal way to learn about smaller animals and plants.
Greater Kruger National Park
As you bump along the park roads, the sun warm upon your face and air dry in the back of your throat, your senses are on high alert. This is the real Africa, cut away from the hectic pace of life, home to Africa’s Big 5. The Kruger is alive, from the nervously twitching herd of impala after a night of predator action, to the wild dog cavorting like domestic pets alongside the road. Marvel as a herd of elephant simply appear from out the bush, then silently vanish back into the landscape. With over 2 million hectares of pristine wilderness, the Kruger’s biodiversity sustains numerous species of game and birds. The dry north consists of Baobab trees, scrubland and rocky outcroppings which can be seen for miles and animals tend to gather around water sources. As you come south, the park gets busier, animal numbers increase and the backdrop changes to grassland and acacia woodlands. On the western borders, private reserves such as Sabi Sands and the Timbavati open onto the Kruger, offering an exclusive game experience with the flexibility of night drives and off-road 4 x 4 safaris. Swaying to the movement of an open vehicle while wrapped warmly against the night chills, is an unforgettable experience. The call of a Nightjar darting overhead and the flash of eyes reflected from the bushes brings an entirely different twist to your safari and as you drop your head back and look up – the crisp night skies go on forever.
Day 5 | Transfer to Johannesburg
After breakfast, enjoy a final game drive. Check out of the lodge drive back to Skukuza Airport, where you’ll catch an evening flight to Johannesburg International Airport. Upon arrival, walk to the City Lodge Hotel (or a similar accommodation) for an overnight stay.
Day 6 | Arrive in Savute, Botswana
After breakfast walk to Johannesburg International Airport and set out on a mid morning flight to botswana. Connect with lodge hopper flight that with take you to the Savute region of the Chobe National Park. Here you will check into your lodge (or a similar accommodation) for three nights.
The Savute
The Savute region of the Chobe National Park is one of Botswana best game viewing destinations, offering exceptional year round game viewing. In the green season massive herds of zebra migrate through the Savute Marsh along with other large groups of mammals in search of the rich grasses. This open marsh area makes for easier predator sightings along with the increase in prey available. The Northern and Marsh lion prides which dominate the region remain offer excellent predator encounters. As the rains bring fresh growth and water into the Savute Marsh large flocks of the vibrant Carmine bee-eaters migrate through the area to pick up insects. They are known to follow vehicles to prey on insects as they flick up providing beautiful photograph opportunities or just marvel at the amazing birdlife.
Day 7 & 8 | On Safari in the Chobe National Park
Spend two days on safari in Chobe National Park, with shared morning and evening game drives. In Savuti, the revived Savuti Channel brings life to the region, attracting hippos, predators, and abundant birdlife, including Secretary Birds and Carmine Bee-eaters. The area is known for excellent game viewing, especially large elephant herds and big cats, making for a truly unique and unforgettable safari experience.
Day 9 | Fly to the Okavango Delta
Today, after breakfast, fly from Savuti to the Okavango Delta. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your lodge (or a similar accommodation), where you will check in for a three-night stay on fully inclusive basis. Okavango Delta is the best location from which to explore the deep water, lagoons and channels in Botswana.
Day 10 & 11 | On Safari in the Okavango Delta
With the lower floodwaters of the green season you are able access the mainland by vehicle to offer our seasonal game-drives which allows for excellent game viewing on day and night drives.
Okavango Delta
Described as “the jewel of the Kalahari,” the Okavango Delta is a lush oasis set in the harsh surroundings of Botswana’s desert, known for its rich biodiversity. One of the world’s largest inland water systems, it is fed by the Angolan rains, creating seasonal flooding that transforms the landscape into a vast water-wilderness of papyrus swamps, reed beds, and floodplains. The delta’s wildlife flourishes during the floods, with its area expanding to over 16,000 km² at peak levels. Home to more than 140,000 people, the delta offers a variety of water-based safari activities, including mokoro canoe safaris, motorboat excursions, and walking safaris, providing visitors a unique opportunity to explore this extraordinary ecosystem.
Day 12 | Depart Home
After a morning game drive, check out of the lodge and board your lodge hopper flight to Maun, Botswana. From there, you’ll catch your flight to Johannesburg, arriving in the late afternoon. Afterward, check in for your international flight and head home.
