Day-by-day Itinerary:
Day 1 | Arrive in Cape Town, South Africa
Welcome to Cape Town, South Africa. On arrival you will be met at the door of your aircraft with your name on a paging board.
You will then be assisted through immigration, baggage collection and customs and on to your next service. Private transfer to V&A Waterfront Hotel. Check in for 3 nights, in 4 mountain facing rooms, on a bed & breakfast basis. Lunch and Dinner on own account.
About Cape Town
Scenically beautiful, Cape Town is a compelling mix of trendy modern and old-world elegance. Glamorous hotels, world-class dining and stunning vistas merge seamlessly with dynamic student suburbs and vibrant nightlife. Malay and African heritage is evident in the cuisine, traditions and entertainment while the architecture reveals a strong Dutch, German and English flavour and style. Contemporary art is proudly displayed in a variety of galleries and modern boutique hotels, and wine bars and brandy tasting lounges will appeal to the fashionable set. For the well-heeled the finest in opera, ballet, drama and music can be appreciated in style.
A short boat cruise to Robben Island, just over seven km’s from Cape Town harbour, you can experience a sense of hopelessness inside the prison cell where South Africa’s most beloved legend, Nelson Mandela spent 27 years hard labour. It is difficult to imagine how anyone could rise above the horror of incarceration to become arguably the most iconic and compassionate leader of our era.
An exciting trip up Table Mountain in a cable car provides panoramic views over the “Mother City” and other attractions include the Cultural History Museum, the Castle of Good Hope and the world-renowned Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Greenmarket Square’s local crafts markets and the Bo-Kaap’s colourful Cape Malay buildings add a sense of authenticity to your trip, and Long Street’s vibrant restaurants, bars and clubs come alive after dark. Perhaps wander around the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, a working harbour and hub of entertainment and shopping opportunities.
Day 2 | Private Half Day Cape Town Tour
After breakfast, meet your private guide/driver for your private half day Cape Town City Tour including Table Mountain Cable Car. After touring, return to the V&A Waterfront Hotel for the afternoon at your leisure. 2nd overnight at V&A Waterfront Hotel, on a bed & breakfast basis. Lunch and dinner on own account.
Private Half Day Cape Town City Tour with Table Mountain Cable Car
Our day begins with a tour of Table Mountain to soak up panoramic vistas of the mother city and the surrounding oceans (weather permitting). We wander through the Company’s Garden and visit the South African Museum, before venturing on to the Castle of Good Hope. Built by the Dutch East India Company, between 1666 and 1679, as a maritime replenishment station, the Castle is the oldest surviving colonial building in the country. During our trip through the city, we pass the Houses of Parliament, the Grand Parade and City Hall – where Nelson Mandela first addressed South Africans after his release. Drop off at the vibrant V&A Waterfront for some time out to explore the restaurants, pubs and shops at your own leisure (or return to your hotel). Touring includes: Bottled water, vehicle, guide and entrance fees to Table Mountain Cable Car, Castle of Good Hope and Slave Lodge.
Day 3 | Private Full Day Cape Point & Peninsula Tour

Continuing along Chapman’s Peak, one of the world’s most breath-taking coastal drives, we make our way to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Board the funicular (optional and for own account) for a trip to the top of the Peninsula for incredible panoramic outlooks over the perceived meeting point of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. Next up, the naval base of Simon’s Town is a richly historic destination of museums, and home to Boulders Beach, renowned for its African Penguin breeding colony. We take some time to wander along the boardwalks, marvelling at the antics of these amusing creatures. Our final stop is Kirstenbosch Gardens, then return to your hotel.

Greater Kruger National Park
As you bump along the park roads, the sun warm upon your face and air dry in the back of your throat, your senses are on high alert. This is the real Africa, cut away from the hectic pace of life, home to Africa’s Big 5. The Kruger is alive, from the nervously twitching herd of impala after a night of predator action, to the wild dog cavorting like domestic pets alongside the road. Marvel as a herd of elephant simply appear from out the bush, then silently vanish back into the landscape. With over 2 million hectares of pristine wilderness, the Kruger’s biodiversity sustains numerous species of game and birds. The dry north consists of Baobab trees, scrubland and rocky outcroppings which can be seen for miles and animals tend to gather around water sources. As you come south, the park gets busier, animal numbers increase and the backdrop changes to grassland and acacia woodlands. On the western borders, private reserves such as Sabi Sands and the Timbavati open onto the Kruger, offering an exclusive game experience with the flexibility of night drives and off-road 4 x 4 safaris. Swaying to the movement of an open vehicle while wrapped warmly against the night chills, is an unforgettable experience. The call of a Nightjar darting overhead and the flash of eyes reflected from the bushes brings an entirely different twist to your safari and as you drop your head back and look up – the crisp night skies go on forever.
On Safari: Southern Sabi Sands
The Sabi Sands is a private 65,000-hectare reserve known as one of the few places that you can see the Big 5 in one day. It has a diverse habitat with the Sand and Sabi Rivers running through it, a huge range of wildlife and a reputation for big cat sightings. Head out for an early morning game drive in open vehicles, stopping for a refreshing coffee break and a chance to listen to the sounds of the bush whilst admiring the landscape. After some down-time and a siesta back at camp, set off again in the late afternoon when the bush comes alive. Sundowners as night falls, then spotlights come out in search of a new range of creatures. For those needing to expend some energy, a guided walking safari is an ideal way to learn about smaller animals and plants.

Enjoy two full days on safari in the Okavango Delta with twice daily safari game viewing activities. All meals and overnight at Chitabe, on a fully inclusive basis.
Okavango Delta
As old as time, the seasonal flood from the Angola Highlands is the heartbeat of Botswana. Seeping along the panhandle and into the largest inland delta system in the world, the water creates a uniquely beautiful National Heritage Site, the incoming tide of life bringing with it birth, transformation and replenishment. These ancient, cyclical changes provide an exceptional safari experience and the area supports vast herds of elephant, buffalo and hippo, as well as numerous antelope, giraffe, zebra and the ever present predators. From March the waters spread outwards, reaching the inner delta by June and peaking in July and August. The inbound flow creates a buzz of energy as it spans out towards Maun, the country as a whole conscious of the gift the waters bring, and caught up in the primordial movement.Depending on nature’s temperamental dictates, the flood levels vary each year, never under the control of man. This makes it difficult to assess what will happen in the upcoming season: the Delta may swell up to 3 times its size. Under natural forces, the face of the earth renews itself, the landscape of channels, grasslands, reed islands and lagoons burst with life and vitality. As the levels recede in October, the earth starts to dry altering the scenery and game viewing. The summer months bring life from a new angle, and the November/December rains come, announcing the green season, and a land lush and verdant. Whether flood or rain, water, the very essence of life, plays a vital role in the Okavango Delta.
On Safari: Okavango Delta
A vast area of swamps, occasional flooded areas and dry land, the Okavango Delta is one of the largest, most intricate and unpredictable wetlands in the world. Safari experiences depend on the season and presence of water, and may include game drives, mokoro, boat excursions or guided walks. Set off on an early morning activity as the sun starts to rise and animals are at their most active. A refreshing coffee stop warms you up and provides the chance to listen to the sounds of the wild. Spend some time resting back at camp during midday, then set off again in the afternoon. Late afternoons extend into evening activities, and spotlights come out to help find the fascinating nocturnal species hiding in the darkness.
Day 11 | Lodge Hopper Flight to Xigera Airstrip
After breakfast and a morning game viewing activity (time permitting), you will be met and transferred to the Xigera Airstrip.
On arrival, board your light aircraft lodge hopper flight (shared with other guests), to Xigera Airstrip.

Your stay includes: All meals, local brand beverages, two scheduled safari activities daily, park fees, return Xigera airstrip transfers, laundry and in-suite Wi-Fi. Activities: morning and afternoon game drives, boat and mekoro excursions (water level dependent), bush walks and catch and release fishing in season. Maximum 4 or 6 guests per vehicle for game drives at Xigera. You will have 1 private vehicle for game drives for the duration of you stay and then shared game drives for the rest of the group of 8 for am and pm drives at Xigera.
Day 12 & 13 | On Safari from Xigera Lodge
Spend two full days on safari from Xigera with twice daily safari game viewing activities. All meals and overnight at Xigera Safari Lodge, on a fully inclusive basis.
Moremi & Surrounds
Moremi Game Reserve, situated in the central and eastern areas of the Okavango Delta, boasts one of the richest and most diverse ecosystems on the African continent. Moremi covers nearly a third of the Okavango, the largest inland delta in the world and exceptionally picturesque, its landscapes unforgettable and filled with abundant life. Verdant floodplains, (seasonal or perennially wet), waterways and lagoons cut through lush vegetation. Palm trees reach up from islands, parting the mists of early mornings. Open plains team with game and riverine and mopane forests cast cool shade over the heated earth.Gloriously contrasting, these varied habitats provide sanctuary to the prolific year-round wildlife population and over 450 species of birds. Rare sitatunga and lechwe antelope thrive in the papyrus banks of the ancient waterways whilst large herds of impala and tsessebe graze on dry land. As summer comes to an end and the dry winter months take over, the scenery changes. Now the constantly moving herds of buffalo dominate the land, and as they migrate along primordial paths, the hypnotic sway of large elephants brings the reserve into its own, renewing it with a sense of purpose. Kudu, zebra and giraffe lead the ever attendant predators into the fray, and life bursts forth, abundant and complete.
On Safari: Moremi Game Reserve & Surrounds
A varied landscape of floodplains, waterways and lagoons, open plains and forests, Moremi is an animal sanctuary with prolific animals and birdlife. Depending on the season, herds of elephant, red lechwe and sitatunga antelope may be seen. The ideal time to head out on safari is early in the morning, as the sun starts to rise, and animals are most active. Warm up with a quick coffee break and take in the incredible sounds of the bush and birdsong in this birders’ paradise. Retreat to camp for a midday siesta and in the late afternoon, set out again when the bush comes alive. If the option is available, boating excursions offer a new vantage point to appreciate the landscape from a different perspective.
Day 14 | Depart Home
After breakfast and a morning safari game viewing activity (time permitting). Fly on light aircraft lodge hopper flight to Maun. On arrival, check in for a scheduled SA Airlink flight out of Maun, Botswana to Johannesburg, South Africa; MUB/JNB; 14:30/16:10
