About Timbavati Reserve: Timbavati, meaning “the place where something sacred came down to Earth from the Heavens,” is a 130,000 acre private game reserve that shares an unfenced border with the Kruger National Park. Forming part of a huge conservation area that spans across international borders and incorporates a number of biomes, the Timbavati remains one of the strongholds for the Big Five; lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino are all regularly spotted, and even the endangered Cape hunting dog thrives in the area. In addition to over 350 species of birds, there are dozens of reptiles and amphibians. The Timbavati is best known for its white lions, although it is still extremely rare to see them. From here eastwards into Kruger is the only known part of Africa that has the presence of this recessive gene. White lions aside, the Timbavati is regarded as one of South Africa’s premiere game viewing destinations. As well as having a consistently good density of wildlife, the Timbavati has a strong conservation ethos and vehicles numbers are kept to a minimum at wildlife sightings. This means a more exclusive safari experience and at the same time ensures the welfare of the habituated animals.
Day 8 – Transfer to Southern Sabi Sands, Check into Notten’s Bush Camp for 3 Nights (All-Inclusive Basis)
After breakfast and a morning game drive (time permitting), you will be met at by an African Safari Adventures representative and privately transferred to Southern Sabi Sands. On arrival, check in to Notten’s Bush Camp for 3 nights on a fully inclusive basis.
Day 9-10 – Two Full-Day Safaris in the Southern Sabi Sands
Enjoy two full days on safari from Notten’s Bush Camp with twice daily game drives in the Southern Sabi Sands. All meals provided.
About the Sabi Sand Reserve: The Sabi Sand Game Reserve, named for the Sabie and Sand Rivers which flow through it, is renowned for its wildlife density and predator interactions; seldom will a visitor not see the Big Five. Although it shares a fenceless boundary with Kruger National Park, much of the wildlife in the Sabi Sand stays more or less in the reserve. Over the years, the animals have become used to the presence of safari vehicles, resulting in close encounters, particularly with the elusive leopards. Roaming packs of African wild dogs, territorial lions, and large herds of elephants are also signature sightings. As well as having a consistently high density of wildlife, the reserve’s conservation ethos keeps vehicle numbers to a minimum at wildlife sightings. This offers a more exclusive safari experience while ensuring the welfare of the habituated animals. Being in the private reserve generally affords more flexibility with opportunities to off-road, enjoy night drives and bush walks, all of which make visiting this area a truly unique experience.
Day 11 – Flight to Victoria Falls, Check into Batonka Guest Lodge for 3 Nights (B&B Basis), Sunset Cruise
After checkout from Notten’s Bush Camp, meet your driver to transfer to Kruger Mpumalanga Airport for your flight to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Upon arrival and clearing customs & immigration, meet your driver who will transfer you to Batonka Guest Lodge for a 3-night stay on a B&B Basis. In the late afternoon, meet your sunset cruise representative in reception for a shared transfer to the Zambezi River for your Sunset cruise. Afterward, transfer back to Batonka Lodge for dinner on own account and overnight.
About the Sunset Cruise: A visit to Victoria Falls isn’t complete without a mesmerizing Sunset Cruise and the ‘Signature Deck’ of the flagship Zambezi Explorer is the best choice for this. Enjoy uninterrupted views from the 6m elevation with delicious canapés and the service of a dedicated mixologist available throughout. Cruise the watery wilderness with the spray of the Victoria Falls, small river islands and lush vegetation as your backdrop.
Day 12 – Morning Walking Tour of Victoria Falls, Zambian Side of Victoria Falls Tour, Evening Dinner and Drum Show
After breakfast, meet your guide in reception for your morning private guided walking tour of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe side and then by vehicle drive over the Border to the Zambian side of Victoria Falls for a guided tour. In the evening, meet your driver in reception and depart for Boma Dinner & Drumming Show at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge. Your tour includes a buffet dinner. After, you will be transferred back to Batonka Guest Lodge for your 2nd overnight.
About the Boma Dinner and Drum Show: A popular Victoria Falls experience is being refreshed with a focus on enhancing and modernizing both the food and the entertainment. The Boma is known for its local Zimbabwean delicacies, such as mopane worms, warthog steak, and Zambezi bream, as well as beef, pork, chicken, and vegetarian dishes, ensuring there is something to suit every palate. The Boma, opened with just 60 seats as an open air “bush” restaurant to cater for guests at Lokuthula Lodges, and has since grown into a “must-do” Victoria Falls experience, able to accommodate 320 diners.
Day 13 – Morning Zimbabwean Cultural Connection Tour, Afternoon Helicopter Tour of Victoria Falls
Enjoy breakfast and then meet your Wild Horizons representative in reception and depart for your Cultural Connection Community Village Tour and ‘home hosted’ lunch. Return to Batonka Lodge for some time at your leisure. In the afternoon, meet your Wild Horizons representative in reception and depart on a Scenic Helicopter Flight over Victoria Falls. Return to Batonka Guest Lodge for dinner (on own account) and your 3rd and final overnight.
About Cultural Connection Tour: Travel to the Chinotimba township – home to roughly 60,000 people – for a traditional, homemade African lunch with a local family. After this taste of Zimbabwean hospitality, embark on a village tour to get a current perspective of rural life. Visiting homes, watch fields being tended and see the day-to-day chores being accomplished.
About Helicopter Tour: The best way to appreciate the true splendor of the Victoria Falls is to view them from the air. The helicopters have specially designed ‘bubble shaped’ windows perfect for panoramic viewing and great photographic opportunities from all seats. Due to the close proximity of Maramba Aerodrome to the Zambezi River, the helicopters are over the spectacular scenery of the Zambezi River within 30 seconds after take-off. After take-off, the helicopter turns out towards the magnificent Victoria Falls, and the pilot will fly left and right hand circuits over the Victoria Falls in both directions giving you the best viewing, photographic, and filming opportunities. A trip up the Zambezi River and back over the Zambezi National Park completes your flight.
Day 14 – Depart Victoria Falls for Home
After checkout from the Batonka Guest Lodge, meet your driver in reception who will transfer you to the Victoria Falls Airport for your journey home.
