Thanks to two special ladies, I had the pleasure of flying around Namibia in ‘style’ this year. I had such a Lekker time!

Many folks ask me, “Why Namibia? Nadia, what makes it different and special for you?” I hardly hesitate before saying, “Even though it’s often freezing before the sun comes up, the sunrise over the massive, brilliant Sossusvlei Dunes is magical.”

I first visited Namibia on a large cruise ship in the 80’s, and this Southern Africa country has really grown on me over the years. The people are wonderful; and the guides and lodge staff are so personable, knowledgeable, and passionate about Namibia.

Many of you know I love cheetahs. I get excited knowing there is a good chance of seeing cheetahs, even just one, each time I visit Namibia. This year we were not disappointed!

I so enjoy sitting at a waterhole in Etosha National Park, and just waiting and watching as the animals (in order of rank of course!) meander in and out for a drink of water. I could dilly dally with a camera in hand at Okaukeujo waterhole all day. Also, watching desert-adapted elephants in the Purros Conservancy was a highlight for me this year. As for the lion roars and hyena noises at night from our oh-so-plush Onguma accommodations, I will save that story for another time.

Totsiens!

Till next time,
Nadia
