Africa Easy helps plan family safaris each year. We work closely with our partners and share the latest news with our travelers.
For families going on safari in South Africa, new regulations commenced on June 1, 2015. The rules apply to those traveling to or from South Africa with minors (children under 18 year old).
We recommend viewing the South African Department of Home Affairs summary of the New Immigration Regulations for Families Traveling Abroad With Children.
In Summary:
- When both parents are traveling with a minor: They must produce an unabridged birth certificate.
- When one parent is traveling with a minor: They must produce an unabridged birth certificate and a consent form from the other parent.
- When a non-parent is traveling with a minor: They must produce the documents above and additional information, including identity documents and contact information for the parents.
The above is a short summary of the new changes for travel to South Africa with children under 18.
